Mentoring: What Is It? Do You Need It?
A mentor is a person who provides you and supports you with the tools, guidance and feedback you need to push your career/business.
Some people say they are the same as “coaches” or “consultants”, but to me, a mentor is more than that.
Mentors, in my experience, are specialised and closely aligned to what you are doing and what your objectives are, whereas a coach is quite generalised. Sure they would be able to provide great coaching and generic advice, however, a mentor generally is an expert in YOUR industry and YOUR field, thus offering advice that is closely aligned to you.
